Join MRC and Dr. Jeff Eble, Visiting Research Assistant Professor at the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), for our January 11, 2022 Lunch & Learn Hybrid Seminar on FIT’s Restore Lagoon Inflow Research project, a multi-year, state funded initiative to investigate the possible effects of using artificially enhanced seawater exchange to improve Lagoon water quality and restore the health of the Indian River Lagoon.

Florida Tech’s Restore Lagoon Inflow Research project is a multi-year, state funded initiative to investigate the possible effects of using artificially enhanced seawater exchange to improve lagoon water quality and restore the health of the Indian River Lagoon. Findings from phases I and II research and modeling efforts highlight the potential for enhanced inflow to help stabilize the lagoon by restoring the natural processes that remove the excess nutrients responsible for harmful algal bloom outbreaks. The next step in the project is to ensure that everyone has the information needed to evaluate the feasibility of this approach with construction of a temporary, small-scale pumping system to directly evaluate the impact of enhanced seawater exchange on water quality and nutrient cycling. Join us for our January Lunch & Learn to more about this project and register today!

The seminar will end with a live Q&A session, but we recommend participants to email any questions you already have that relate to this topic to [[1]].

This is a free event, but you must register to receive the Zoom link or to reserve your spot at the Lagoon House as space is limited (subject to cancellation). The Zoom link will be in your confirmation email. We will be live streaming the presentation through the MRC's Facebook page and will post the recording to the MRC's YouTube page for future viewing!
