intertidal zone
The coastal environment between mean low tide and mean high tide that alternates between subaerial and subaqueous depending on the tidal cycle.
- The zone between the mean higher high water and mean lower low water lines.

Synonym: foreshore, seashore
Example: Many species of worms, snails, clams, oysters, mussels and seastars make the intertidal zone their home.
